2010 Soccer World Cup

Matches for the 2010 soccer world cup will be played in the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit. This 44 000 seat stadium is currenly under construction approximately 6kms west of Nelspruit. Completion is set for the middle of 2009 when most of the seats will be covered by a cantilever roof. The stadium has 18 roof supports resembling giraffes.

 Mbombela the Siswati word for "a lot of people together in a small space". Being situated close to the Kruger National Park visitors to this World Cup venue will be able to couple this with a visit to the game reserve.
